Faulty Appliances

Faulty Appliances are both a fire and safety risk. The ever cheaper available appliances may have a fatal cost.
There is the risk of electric shock. For example, electric shock may result from indirect contact where a conductive part that is not normally energised (such as a metal toaster) becomes energised due to a fault.

Some appliance safety Tips -:

• Check your power cords regularly.
• Do not place appliances near hot surfaces like heaters or your stove
• Install a safety switch
• Ask your licensed electrician to check over any appliance that you suspect may be damaged eg (develops a smell)
• Unplug or turn appliances off at the wall
• Only use quality powerboards and do not overload them
• Get your old wiring inspected by a licensed electrician

Ageing or Faulty Electrical Appliances

Never use an ageing or faulty electrical appliance including an appliance -:

• that has given someone any kind of shock
• has a frayed cord
• cracked or broken plug
